Stanley Design and Build recently completed a roofing and building upgrade project, always keeping a close eye on both time and budget. The project focused on replacing the old asbestos sheeting with modern composite panels, while also improving the building's exterior and rainwater systems.
The first step was a thorough inspection, which highlighted the need for the roof replacement and some additional updates. One challenge we faced was that we couldn’t put scaffolding up on one side of the building due to the neighboring roofs not being able to support it. However, after exploring different options, we found the best solution was to use a crane basket to safely reach and work on that section.
Along with the new roof, we replaced the wall cladding on the building's front and upgraded the rainwater products. To keep the building at a comfortable temperature for ribbon manufacturing, we installed 16 roof fans. We also added 120mm composite panels to the roof, including 15% roof lights to meet building regulations, and installed three louvered ventilation panels to help with airflow.
The project also gave us the opportunity to redesign the drainage system, improving its efficiency and ensuring it met all current standards. Throughout the work, we made sure safety was a top priority, using an access tower with safety netting and edge protection.
Despite a few challenges, we completed the project on time and our customer was very happy with the final results.
